History

Air Wisconsin Airlines has been a proud presence in the regional airline industry since 1965. Originally founded to provide service between Appleton, WI and Chicago, IL, the airline quickly grew beyond these borders and began providing service to multiple destinations.

The airline was a pioneer in code sharing, a mechanism that allowed it to form a marketing partnership with United Airlines. That relationship, together with mergers of Mississippi Valley Airlines and Aspen Airways in 1985 and 1991, respectively, helped make the airline the largest regional carrier in the United States at that time.

In 1993 private investors purchased the airline. Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation, while continuing to operate as United Express, developed a route network that stretched from Colorado to the eastern seaboard. Built on a foundation of exceptional quality and reliability, Air Wisconsin prides itself on its record for safety, smart choices and superior service.
