Mechanics/Avionics Technicians

Avionics Technicians are eligible for a sign on bonus of $2500.00. May be eligible for up to $5000.00 depending upon experience.

Our maintenance facilities currently operate twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on seventy Bombardier CRJ aircraft. This includes line maintenance, scheduled inspections, and accompanying maintenance, up to and including ‘A-Checks’ and large component replacements in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies and procedures.

Mechanics and technicians inspect, test, replace, dismantle, alter, fabricate and reassemble aircraft components and engines. A variety of tools and equipment are used, including precision measuring devices, pneumatic devices, electrical testing devices, general shop equipment, ground support equipment and computers. Technicians are responsible for proper completion of logbook entries, internal company forms, and the maintenance release of our aircraft. Mechanics and technicians are also responsible for accessing and inputting technical data and information utilizing sophisticated computer systems.

Licensing/Work Experience

A&P Mechanics and Avionics Technicians must have a current Airframe & Power Plant license. Avionics Technicians must also have a FCC General Radio Telephone Operator license.

Other Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work all shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs, sit, stand, stoop, squat, etc.

Compensation

Wages for A&P Mechanics and Avionics Technicians are set by the collective bargaining agreement between AWAC and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).

Current starting salary: $15.90/hr. (includes license premiums)
Mechanics earn a 76% increase in pay over 8 years.
Additional shift premiums and overtime may also apply.

Maintenance bases are located in Philadelphia, PA; Norfolk, VA; and Milwaukee, WI.
